Traffic Light Removal

The North Carolina Department of Transportation approved removing the traffic lights at the intersection of Creekway Drive and North Main Street.

Starting Monday, May 7, 2018, the traffic lights at the intersection will be switched to flashing. Drivers turning onto Creekway Drive from North Main will have to stop and yield to traffic on Creekway Drive.

The lights will flash for 90 days, and then City staff will remove the signal heads and other hardware at the intersection.

As part of the North Main Small Area Plan, City staff asked NCDOT to review whether the traffic lights were needed at the intersection. NCDOT studied the traffic counts and decided the lights were no longer warranted.
