The Lincoln County’s Sheriff’s department has received reports from individuals of calls claiming there is a warrant out for their arrest. The calls come from a number that has been manipulated to appear as if it is coming from the sheriff’s office. According to the Hickory Daily Record the scammers say a fine is due to prevent the arrest, attempting to collect the payments by wiring it through prepaid credit cards, registering online, or giving them the identification number of a prepaid card.
