Hickory City Council Approves Union Square Redesign

Next time you visit Union Square in Hickory, it may look different. That’s because the city council voted unanimously to approve the $3.2 million redesign plans for Union Square on Tuesday, reported by the Daily Record. New bathrooms, pocket parks, garden rooms and additional seating are also part of the design. The approval of the new plans comes nearly eight months after the City Council voted to separate the Union Square redesign from the spine of the City Walk, the walkway from Lenoir-Rhyne University to Ninth Street NW.
