Town of Sawmills Could Potentially End Town Recycling

Sawmills town officials are drafting a budget and plan that could potentially end town-sponsored recycling pickup, reported by the News Topic. That plan would cost $282,000, and residents who wished to still recycle would be provided 18-gallon recycling bins by the town and would have to take their own recycling to the convenience center. Council members said that $45,000 for the convenience center and recycling bins would be wasted money if many residents did not use them. The council decided that cutting recycling services altogether and handling trash pickup by the town would be the cheapest, coming in at $277,500. But there still could be an option for curbside recycling pickup in Sawmills.
