Hickory’s City Walk Construction to Begin this Fall

Construction on City Walk in Hickory is expected to begin in late October or November, Hickory Public Services Director Kevin Greer told members of the Bond Implementation Commission Wednesday, reported by the Hickory Daily Record. The bond commission heard updates on the city’s $40 million bond program, which voters approved in 2014. Greer said construction on City Walk — the walkway to run from Lenoir-Rhyne University to Ninth Street NW in downtown — is expected to take 18 months. City Walk is one of the projects funded through the bond program. Along with street improvements along Old Lenoir Road and the Riverwalk, the City Walk will form an economic zone known as the Hickory Trail.
