JBS USA bought the plant off Virginia Street in Lenoir on July 31 for $40 million from owners Alex Lee Inc., which also owns Merchant Distributors Inc. and Lowe’s Foods. The News-Topic reports the two parties settled a lawsuit in recent weeks allowing the sale to be completed. JBS serves Food Lion and Lowes Foods out of the plant.
