Newton Police are investigating an accident Tuesday morning that killed one person and injured 3 others. The crash happened in the 500 block of Thornburg Dr. SE, Conover. When officers arrived they discovered a vehicle on its side in a wooded area. The driver was airlifted to Atrium Health’s Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte.. Two passengers were transported to Catawba Valley Medical Center via Catawba County EMS and later flown to Atrium Health’s Carolinas Medical Center. All three patients have major injuries. The third passenger was pronounced deceased at the scene by emergency personnel.
