Police Make Arrest In Shooting Case

On June 9, 2020 at approximately 6:29 pm, Reginald Lavar Davis, 43, of 4940 Mayble Street, Catawba,
was arrested without incident at 3888 Wash Gap Dr., Newton. Mr. Davis had outstanding warrants for
his arrest issued in connection with a shooting that occurred on June 7, 2020 on Sarah Ave in Newton.
Mr. Davis was charged with Attempted First Degree Murder, Discharging a Weapon Into Occupied
Property Causing Serious Bodily Injury and Possession of Firearm by a Felon. Mr. Davis was transported
to the Catawba County Detention Center where he was placed under a $1,000,000.00 bond for all three
charges. Mr. Davis has his first court appearance scheduled for June 10, 2020.
The victim in this case, Keshaun Dashay Furgeson, 20 of Newton, is listed in stable condition at Wake
Forest Baptist Medical Center.
The Catawba County Sheriff’s Office Special Enforcement Group along with the State Bureau of
Investigation assisted in the investigation and arrest of Mr. Davis.
This is an ongoing investigation being conducted by the Newton Police Department.
