Heavy rain over the weekend was responsible for several roads in the area being damaged and some had to be closed to traffic. Catawba County Commissioners declared a State of Emergency on Saturday due to the excessive rainfall. Kool Park Road and the 2000 block of Snow Creek Road are expected to be closed for several weeks while repairs are made. The majority of damage was concentrated in the Hickory, Conover, St. Stephens, and Long View areas.
