Valdese Woman Charged With Child Abuse

On August 18, 2020, Burke County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigation Divisions received a Structured Intake Form from NC Department of Health and Human Services-Child Protective with allegations concerning child abuse on an 11-month-old male child. Subsequent to an investigation, on August 21, 2020, a warrant was issued for the arrest of Donna Fay Lingerfelt-Adams. Lingerfelt-Adams was arrested at her residence the morning of August 22, 2020 without incident. She was issued a $50,000 secured bond and placed in Burke County Jail on a charge of Felony Child Abuse with a first appearance of August 25, 2020. Burke County Sheriff’s Office Detectives continued their investigation issuing and serving a search warrant at Lingerfelt-Adams residence on August 25, 2020. In addition to Lingerfelt-Adams, Terry Allan Griffin and Cletus Delon Stamey were present during the search. Lingerfelt-Adams and Griffin were both found to be in the possession of Methamphetamine and Lingerfelt-Adams also was found to be in the possession of Oxycodone. Stamey had an unserved Failure to Appear warrant outstanding. All three subjects were transported to the Burke County Magistrate Office and charged. Griffin received a $4,000.00 secured bond, Lingerfelt-Adams received a $54,000.00 total secured bond while Stamey received a $311.00 cash bond. All were held at the Burke County Jail.
