A woman was killed and a toddler injured in a wreck on Interstate 40. The wreck occurred early Christmas morning near mile marker 108 in Burke County. Monica Torres-Garcia 39, of Bessemer City died. Officers with the NC Hwy Patrol report she was driving recklessly, striking another vehicle. A 2 year old was taken to Levine Children’s Hospital in Charlotte. Other passengers in both vehicles had minor injuries. DWI is suspected in the incident.
