The unemployment numbers for December 2020 remained relatively unchanged in the Hickory, Lenoir, Morganton metro area. Burke County’s rate was up .1% at 5.8% while Catawba County’s rate fell .1% to 6%. Caldwell County’s rate remained at 6.6%. Deborah Murray of the Caldwell County Economic Development Commission said the silver lining is that the unemployment rate is holding steady.
