By the end of the day, Caldwell County Health Department will have depleted its state allotment of COVID-19 vaccine for initial doses. Vaccine is available for those scheduled to receive their second dose at the Health Department.

Individuals who had appointments scheduled for their initial dose of vaccine after today are now being rescheduled for mid-February.

Since January 2, the department has administered more than 1,650 initial doses of the vaccine.

“People are eager to receive the vaccine, but supplies are limited statewide,” said Caldwell County Public Health Director Anna Martin. “We are continuing to maintain our waiting list and will schedule appointments as vaccine becomes available.”

The Health Department’s vaccine waiting list now has more than 8,000 names, and priority is given to those 65 and older, in accordance with state guidance.
