On Tuesday evening (January 24th), a home in Alexander County was destroyed by fire. Units from Sugar Loaf, Taylorsville were dispatched to a residence on Jolly Cemetery Road north of Taylorsville at approximately 11:30 p.m. When firefighters arrived, the home was already engulfed in flames. It was reported that at least two people were living at the location. The cause of the fire is still unknown and the occupants are being assisted by the local Red Cross.
