Two Men Arrested in connection with House Robbery

On Tuesday (January 24), Lincoln County Sheriff’s Officers were dispatched to an unoccupied residence in the 900 block of McRee Road in Lincolnton in reference to a break-in in progress. At the scene, officers encountered 41-year-old Jamie Lee Usher of Bennettsville, South Carolina, who was reportedly loading an air compressor onto a trailer. Usher stated he was doing work for the owner, but the owner told officers that no one should be on the property. Usher was linked to a prior break-in at the residence where more than $14,000 in property was reported stolen. Usher was arrested and charged, and his truck and trailer were seized and impounded. Further investigation identified 33-year-old Jerry Wayne Makas of Advance, North Carolina, as an accomplice. On Wednesday, deputies were again dispatched to the same residence after a neighbor reported a truck parked in the driveway. Deputies located Makas in the truck and arrested him on three felony counts of breaking and entering, two felony counts apiece of larceny after breaking and entering and possession of stolen goods, and one felony count of attempted larceny, along with a misdemeanor count of breaking and entering. Makas was also charged with simple possession of a Schedule III controlled substance.
