Google is working with BetaBox to bring STEM to Lenoir

Google has partnered with Betabox Learning to launch a STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math) tour of North Carolina’s school districts. The tour will kick off on Saturday, March 11, at the City of Lenoir’s Martin Luther King Jr. Center, and will feature interactive activities and experiments such as coding, artificial intelligence, robotics, and 3D printing. Google and Betabox Learning aim to inspire the next generation of scientists, engineers, and technologists by bringing the latest in STEM education directly to the classroom. The first 300 attendees will receive free food from area food trucks. The tour is part of Google’s ongoing education and workforce development commitment, and will visit multiple schools throughout the state. Betabox Learning’s mobile STEM labs bring hands-on experiential learning opportunities to schools with the latest technology to engage students in project-based learning. The partnership aims to help close the gap in the number of women and underrepresented groups in STEM fields. SAS and the NC Business Committee for Education support the tour.
