LINCOLNTON, NC – – MAR 27, 2023 The Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office says the shooting happened Thursday night at a residence on Sunny Hill Drive. Officers who responded to the scene say they found a 36-year-old woman lying in the front yard of the home with a gunshot wound to her stomach. Deputies said the shooting appeared to be unprovoked, and they arrested 44-year-old Jerry Cox. He was charged with attempted first-degree murder and placed in jail under a $750,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in court on April 13th.
