The Caldwell County Board of Commissioners recently awarded three NC Wildlife Commission Resource Officers lifesaving valor awards for their efforts in a drowning at Wilson Creek.
Master Officer Jonathan Kiger, Sergeant Dustin Ethridge, and Lieutenant Isaac Hannah responded to a child in Brown Mountain Beach Road saying his parents were drowning. Working together, the officers pulled three victims from the water. Tragically, two of the victims succumbed to their injuries despite lifesaving efforts.
The officers were commended for their courage and disregard for their personal safety during the incident.
