Flooding at Wilson Creek forced evacuations and roads to be closed on Friday. The News Topic reports three campsites were closed and evacuated in Mortimer by the U.S. Forest Service. It’s not clear how many people were in the camps, but they were forced to use Staircase Mountain to leave the area due to parts of Brown Mountain Beach Road being closed earlier. According to Collettsville Fire and Rescue Chief Larry Price this type of flooding happens frequently so firefighters took precautions to keep people out of the area.
