A Hickory man was killed in a motor vehicle accident with a Catawba County Sheriff’s Office patrol car. The accident happened when Hernan Cortez was traveling west on 12th Ave Drive NE and Deputy Stobbe was traveling north on McDonald Parkway. The Hickory Record reports that Deputy Stobbe was injured in the accident and was taken to the hospital and was released. The intersection was closed during the investigation and reopened around 9 am yesterday.
