Store Clerk Fights Off Would-Be Robber

The Lenoir News-Topic reports a convenience store owner in Lenoir fought off a would-be robber Saturday night. Sherry Setser, 63, was stocking the cooler at Quick-Way Superette about 10:30 p.m. when a man in black clothing walked in. His hood was pulled up over his head, and he had a pistol in his hand. She pulled away and managed to escape — in a surveillance video, the robber walked with her outside. She shut the store’s door and turned to face him and screamed at him. The man paused, then jogged away. The Lenoir Police Department is investigating.
