Hickory PD Takes Skill Games From Business

Hickory police officers confiscated skill games at the Lucky Stop convenience store on First Avenue SW yesterday, reported by the Daily Record. In a ruling signed April 26, Mecklenburg County Superior Court Judge George Bell partially rejected a request from gaming company Fun Arcade LLC for a preliminary injunction, noting some of the games are essentially slot machines and fall under the state’s current gambling laws. That ruling opened the door for police to remove some of the games from public places. This is at least the second instance of police doing so.
