Restaurant in Hickory Violated Federal Labor Laws

The Morganton News Herald reports that Nara Japanese Restaurant in Hickory was ordered to pay $28,779 in back wages to 20 employees after a U.S. Department of Labor Wage and Hour Division (WHD) investigation found the employer violated minimum wage, overtime and record keeping requirements of the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA). The restaurant had decided to pay employees a flat daily rate regardless of how many hours worked and disregarded federal minimum wage.
