A Burke County detention officer indicted Monday for her involvement in a fatal crash resigns. The News Herald reports Ginger Rae Laws, who had worked at Burke-Catawba Detention Confinement Facility since 2010, handed in her resignation Thursday morning. Laws will face charges after hitting and killing Scottie Lee Hilton in the July 16th incident.
