City of Lenoir Fire Department hosting open house at Station 3 on Monday 10/7

To kick off Fire Prevention Week, the City of Lenoir Fire Department is hosting an open house at Fire Station 3 Monday, Oct. 7, 2019, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m.

“The Lenoir Fire Department would like to invite you to come see our new station that will serve the City of Lenoir with a focus on the Lower Creek area of our City,” Chief Hair said. “You can also meet some of the firefighters that serve here.”

Visitors who come to the open house will have a chance to operate a real fire hose and can enter a drawing for several door prizes.

Fire Prevention Week occurs annually in October. Chief Hair said it’s a good opportunity for firefighters to visit local schools and churches and remind everyone about fire prevention basics.

“During Fire Prevention Week, we remind everyone to check their smoke alarm and carbon monoxide alarm batteries to ensure they are in good working order,” Hair said. “We also encourage families and businesses to plan for “EDITH”, Exit Drills In The Home, to ensure that if there is a fire at a residence, everyone knows the plan to get out safe.”

The City officially opened Fire Station 3 in August this year. Located at 1015 Wilkesboro Blvd. NE, Station 3 is the City’s third fire station. The station houses one fire company, which includes a fire engine, four fire fighters, and a battalion chief. Station 3 allows firefighters to respond faster to calls in the eastern part of the city.

The Open House will be Monday, Oct. 7, 2019, at 1015 Wilkesboro Blvd. Drop by anytime between 4:00 and 7:00 p.m.
