Today is the busiest travel day of the year. More than 55 million travelers are making plans to kick off the holiday season with a trip of 50 miles or more away from home this Thanksgiving according to AAA. 1.54 million of those will be North Carolinians and 49.3 million travelers are expected to hit the road over the holiday. The Thanksgiving holiday travel period started today (November 27) and runs until Sunday, December 1. And don’t forget police will be out in force over the period checking for speeders, drunk drivers, and people not buckled up.
