Man sentenced for hit and run death

A Hickory man will server 44 to 65 months in prison after being pleading guilty of felony death by vehicle, driving while impaired and felony hit and run/death.  Jeffrey Blaine Bumgarner received the sentence on Monday in Catawba County Superior Court. Bumgarner was responsible for the motor vehicle crash that led to the death of 58 year old Charles Shook, Jr. February 10, 2018 on Hwy 70 SE.  Bumgarner told the court and Shooks family that he was sorry.
