Caldwell Schools receives grant

The Caldwell County School System is one of 15 school districts statewide that was recently awarded grant monies under the Coding and Mobile App Development Grant Program launched in 2017 with funding from the North Carolina General Assembly.

Caldwell County Schools received grant funds in the amount of $46,040.

Amy Philyaw, Director of STEM Education, led the effort in securing the grant funds for the Caldwell County Schools. Her proposal uses Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) activities through a mobile STEM Center that will be utilized by middle school students.

The STEM mobile unit will be implemented in the Caldwell County Schools this fall. As part of the grant funding, professional development also will be provided for teachers at the middle and high school levels in computer science and programming.
