The City of Morgantons Electric Services Department recently won two 2019 Public Power Awards of Excellence. ElectriCities awarded Morganton the Wholesale Power Cost Award for providing competitive and stable wholesale electric rates for its customers. Additionally, the City’s Electric Services Department was recognized for effectively conducting load management at its power substations, and implementing power saving measures, such as installing LED lights,and fault current indicators throughout its system. Morganton is one of 20 public power communities across the state that received Public Power Awards of Excellence this year.
ElectriCities is a membership organization including public power communities in North Carolina, South Carolina, and Virginia. There are 92 public power communities across these three states that are members of ElectriCities.
