Lenoir Chaplin receives Key to city

Lenoir Police Department Chaplin Larry Smith, was recently presented the key to the city by Mayor Joe Gibbons.

Smith worked as a telecommunicator for the department for several years, and he has served as a Volunteer Chaplain since 2004. Smith and his wife plan to move out of the area later this year, so he will no longer be able to serve as a Chaplain.

Mayor Gibbons presented the Key to the City and a resolution to Smith  during the regular City Council meeting.

Smith was the first African-American Chaplain for the Lenoir Police Department.
