Investigation leads to drug arrests

In December 2019, detectives with the Burke County Sheriff’s Office began investigating complaints of possible drug activity at

1726 Suburban Drive, Lot 17, Morganton. Subsequent to a lengthy investigation, detectives were able to establish that illegal sells

and distribution of controlled substances were occurring at the residence. On 02-06-2020, subsequent to a search warrant, detectives

made contact with Richard Todd Frady and Curston Shay Graybeal at the residence. Frady, a convicted felon, was found to be in

possession of two firearms, one which was reported stolen. Detective’s also located and seized a substantial amount of

methamphetamine as well as multiple items of drug paraphernalia. Frady was arrested and transported to the magistrate office

where he was charged with the above charges, received a $65,000.00 secure bond, and given a court date of 02-26-2020. Curston

Graybeal was also arrested and transported to the magistrate office on the charges above, received a $15,000.00 secure bond and

was held at the Burke County Jail with a court date set for 02-26-2020.

Curston Graybeal posted bond and was pulled over in an investigative vehicle stop by Burke County deputies on 02-13-2020.

During the investigation, deputies located and seized methamphetamine as well a drug paraphernalia from her person. Graybeal

was arrested and transported to the magistrate office where she was charged with Possession of Schedule II (Methamphetamine)

and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. Graybeal received a $25,000.00 secure bond and was held at the Burke County Jail with a
