Man arrested following police chase

A Burke County Deputy spotted Stacy Alan Clinton around 1:12 p.m., on February 19, 2020, who the officer knew to have outstanding warrants, driving on Wilkes Grove Church Rd. When the deputy activated his blue lights, Clinton failed to stop. Subsequent to running through two stop signs into Catawba County on Old Shelby Rd., Clinton jumped and ran on foot. The chase was less than a mile in length. Burke County deputies working with Catawba County deputies and Hickory PD officers, with K9’s and drones, searched the area in Catawba County until approximately 5:45 p.m. before terminating the search. Clinton was located later that evening in Lincoln County where he was arrested and turned over to Burke County deputies. The vehicle Clinton was driving was seized and Clinton is currently housed in the Burke County Jail under a $35,000 bond on F – Larceny, Possession or Receiving Goods ($25,000 secured) and M – Community Threats ($10,000 secured). He is being held without a bond for Possessing Stolen Goods. Clinton has a court date pending in NC District Court on February 28, 2020. Addition charges are pending.
