The NC Highway Patrol is investigating a fatal accident that happened Monday on Old Shelby Road in Catawba County. Drivers of both cars were killed in the crash. Kasi Nicole Benefield of Hickory and Brenda Gilliam Evans of Connelly Springs were both pronounced dead at the scene. A passenger in one of the cars suffered non life threatening injuries.
