One person has been charged following the death of a motorcyclist over the weekend in Catawba County. 23-year-old Aleta Diane Fisher of Sylva is charged with felony death by vehicle and driving while impaired.
According to the NC Highway Patrol, Fisher was driving a 1999 Ford Escort east on Robinwood Road when she attempted to turn left and struck a motorcycle operated by 50-year-old Kevin Glen Shoemaker of Hickory. Shoemaker died at Catawba Valley Medical Center.
