The pilot of a small plane attempted to make an emergency landing on Interstate 40 in McDowell County Saturday afternoon after losing engine power. Windy conditions and traffic caused the plane to land just off the highway on the other side of a guardrail in the East Bound lane near the 90 mile marker. The pilot was not injured and no motorists were injured. The FAA will be investigating the accident.
