Two Arrested in Connection to Armed Robbery

On October 6, 2020, a Burke County Sheriff’s Office deputy was dispatched to the Valero store, 400 South Center Street, Hildebran, in reference to an armed robbery. The clerk reported that an Asian male came into the store, showed a handgun and demanded money from the register. After receiving the money, the suspect left the store and got into a blue Toyota car with a waiting male driver. The two fled the scene and were last seen getting onto I-40. The Burke County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigation responded, processed the scene and recovered security surveillance of the incident. The suspect’s vehicle was found later the same day and the two suspects were arrested following the recovery of evidence from the vehicle. One suspect was identified as Yia Vang of 3575 Sundown Road, Morganton, and the second suspect was identified as Nohsher Chiah of 292 Jones Road, Fletcher, NC. Both men were confined at the Burke County Jail with a court date of October 12, 2020. Additional charges are pending.
