NC Department of Insurance Commissioner Mike Causey conferred The Order of the Guardian on former Fire Chief Ken Briscoe , May 17, 2018. The Order of the Guardian is awarded in recognition of the character, integrity, service and honor of insurance industry professionals.
Briscoe started his career as a firefighter for the city in 1974. After nine years with the city he took a job with the N.C. Department of Insurance. In 2004, Briscoe returned to Lenoir as Fire Chief. He retired in February.
