Jeremy Lewis Leatherman of Burke County was sentenced 17 to 23 years in prison on Monday on charges of failure to register as a sex offender, being on a restricted premises and being a habitual felony. According to the Morganton News Herald Leatherman is a registered sex offender and moved to Alexander County, but failed to change his address. Leatherman was taken into custody in June 2017.
