Morganton is taking the next step toward adding more downtown housing. The Morganton city council approved to allocate $120,000 for low interest loans to aid in the creation of housing in the central business district. Β The News Herald Reports loans are to help property owners in making Necessary upgrades to structures and will be awarded on a first-come first-serve basis. According to Sharon Jablonski Director of the Main streets program there are 27 potential projects that could take place downtown.
