A conservation group has bought 26 acres adjacent to the Pisgah National Forest in northwestern Caldwell County and transferred it to state ownership. The News-Topic reports The Forest Service will manage the land as part of the Backbone Ridge Educational State Forest, and it will be open to the public for education and recreation.
