Repairs to close Burke County Animal Shelter for repairs. The News Herald reports the shelter will be closed from Aug. 26 through Sept. 2 so workers can clean walls and paint the interior of the facility.
The animal shelter will not accept owner-surrendered animals from Aug. 17 through Sept. 2 and is expected to reopen at 8 a.m. on Sept. 3.
No animals will be held at the shelter while the work is being done and area rescues will take animals from the shelter if they have room before the work is done. Animals will be held at Friends for Animals Humane Society of Burke County, previously known as Burke County Friends for Animals.
