The Burke County Sheriffs Department is warning residents about a call scam in the area. Scammers identifying themselves as Lt. Westbrook are calling residents advising that they have missed jury duty and to purchase a VISA debit card, and mail money to a Morganton address and are then directed to meet with Judge Erwin. Authorities warn This is a SCAM. Do not send any money in this situation. If you receive one of these calls report it to the Burke County Sheriffs Office.
