Police are warning people that thieves are always lurking and right after the Christmas gifts are opened are a favorite time for them to strike. Criminals have learned to keep an eye on trash containers and are looking to target homes with brand new, expensive gifts inside, especially electronics. Authorities say to keep the boxes inside as long as possible and when you are ready to get rid of them, break them down and put them inside the outside trash can or take them straight to the landfill so as not to tip thieves off to whats inside your home.
