Burke County Public Health was notified today and is reporting the eleventh COVID-19
associated death in Burke County. The individual in their 70’s was not hospitalized but died from
complications associated with their underlying medical conditions. To protect the family’s privacy, no
further information about the patient will be released.
“We are deeply saddened to have to report another death within our county. We want to extend our
deepest sympathies to the family and friends of this individual”, said Burke County Health Director
Rebecca McLeod. We continue this battle on all fronts and plead with our residents to keep up the
preventive measures to help contain this virus moving forward.”

Burke County is currently at 119 positive cases. The cases consist of traveling, congregate living,
and community spread. All positive cases are isolated and Public Health staff continues to
investigate the cases and will be locating those close contacts to help contain the spread of the
infection.
