On June 7th, 2020 at approximately 1:16 pm, Newton Police responded to a report of shots fired
in the area of Sarah Ave in Newton. Upon arriving at the scene, officers were told by witnesses
that a group of males at 104 Sarah Ave got into an altercation. As the group of males were
leaving the area someone discharged a firearm. All parties then left the area of Sarah Ave.
A short time later, Newton Police received a 911 call stating someone had been shot and they
were on the way to the hospital. Approximately fifteen minutes later, Newton Police received a
call indicating that a shooting victim had arrived at Catawba Valley Medical Center. Newton
officers responded to the hospital and found a victim with possible life-threatening injuries.
The victim was stabilized and subsequently transferred to Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center
where the individual is currently listed as being in a stable condition.
