The oldest funeral home in Caldwell County has turned 100. Mackie Funeral Home was established in 1920. New ownership took over in May of 2020. Those owners are Ed Plemmons and Andy Thompson, who also own Heritage Funeral Service in Valdese. A celebration was postponed due to the pandemic. Plans to commemorate the anniversary will be pushed to the spring.
