8-10 inches of rain fell across the Catawba Valley yesterday. Several area roadways were flooded and closed including 25 roads and bridges in Catawba County. The NC Department of Transportation is assessing damages and will decide which roads can safely open and which roads will need repairs. The heavy rains were the remnants of Hurricane Eta.
