Over $9.5 million in state funding was awarded to various airports in North Carolina. The NC Board of Transportation approved state and federal grants for the improvements. Locally, $720,000 were allocated for the Hickory Regional Airport. Those funds will be used to repair the parallel taxiway at the Hickory Airport.
Valdese will be making wastewater control upgrades. A $1.176 million low interest loan was awarded from a state program. Valdese will make upgrades to the Cline Ave basin and pump station alleviating peak flow issues during heavy rains. The 20 year loan is at a rate of 1.1%.
