The Burke County School Board has named an interim superintendent. Dr Mike Swan will take over as interim from Dr Larry Putnam. Swan has been the assistant superintendent since last year, and has served in many capacities from elementary school teacher to principal. All those positions were in the Burke County schools since moving from West Virginia in 1998.
