A man from Burke County died in prison in Pender County. The North Carolina Department of Public Safety reported Brandon Campbell 32, was found unresponsive in his cell at 1204 am on Monday. He was serving a 2 year 3 month sentence for sex offender registry failure from a 2019 conviction. Officials believe the death was an apparent suicide.
